WHO JESUS IS

When the name is spoken, most people know who you’re talking about. The name Jesus is mentioned a thousand times a day; perhaps in a crisis, often as a curse word, and sometimes as a joke. On many occasions His name is spoken in adoration and worship. Jesus is the most controversial man in all of history. Books, songs, and works of art have been based on His life more than anyone else ever—and for good reason. Not only is Jesus fully man, He’s also fully God. He is the Christ, the Messiah, the Savior, the One who became like us so we could become like Him. He’s not only a relevant part of history, He’s also a relevant part of today and most definitely tomorrow.

We’re all about Jesus. We preach His Word. We teach His principles. We are grateful that He died in our place to save us from the penalty of our sin. We love and worship Him as our Lord and Savior. We have seen Him change lives. He has done some amazing things in us and in the lives of others. We desire for you to know Him too! Not just to know about Him, but to truly know Him. The same Jesus who walked the earth two thousand years ago desires YOU. We want to help you learn who Jesus is. If you’re interested in knowing the Jesus of the Bible, please contact us.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

God

God is the Creator of all things, and the Ruler over all He has created, including all of mankind. He eternally exists in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. He has a fatherly relationship with Jesus and those who have trusted in Jesus. Since God is infinite, He is beyond our understanding. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Ephesians 3:14-15; Acts 17:28-29; John 3:16; John 1:12)

Jesus

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father and Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead on the third day to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  (Luke 1:35; Matthew 1:18; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Corinthians 15:20-23; John 1:1-2; Philippians 2:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; John 14:2-3; Matthew 25:31)

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides the follower of Christ with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian believer should seek to live under His control daily. (John 14:16-26; John 16:7-15; John 7:37-39; Romans 8:26; Galatians 5:22-23; 1 Corinthians 12:1-7)

Mankind

As the supreme object of God’s creation, human beings were made in the image of God. Although God designed all of mankind to have fellowship with Him, they became alienated from God through disobedience. As a result, all human beings are born with a sinful nature and by that nature choose to sin against God. Mankind is incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through individual or even cooperative efforts. Humans were created to exist forever. They will exist eternally separated from God because of sin, or they will exist eternally in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. When a person dies, he or she will either spend eternity in Heaven or in Hell. Eternal separation from God happens in Hell with all its torment. Eternal union with God occurs in Heaven with all its peace and joy. (Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 2:7; Genesis 3:1-6; John 14:1-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Romans 5:12)

Salvation

Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life in communion with God begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. Regardless of views regarding dispossession, or loss, of salvation, life in communion with God is fully maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. (Romans 3:23; Revelation 21:27; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 5:9-18; 1 Peter 2:24; John 3:16; Romans 6:23; John 5:24; John 10:28-29; John 14:6; Acts 4:12)

The Bible

The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, inerrant and infallible in the original manuscripts. It is the supreme source of truth for life today and for the future. The Bible is from God and is the ultimate authority in life and therefore should direct our thinking and actions. The Scriptures are divided into two major parts: The Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament was written before the birth of Christ and the New Testament was written after His birth. The theme of the Bible is God’s ongoing pursuit of a love relationship with people, despite their rejection of Him and His standards. This theme is best seen in Jesus and His death for the sins of all mankind. (2 Peter 1:20-21; Revelation 22:18-19; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 1 Peter 1:10-12, 25)

The Church

The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ and have been baptized. The church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The church is the bride of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the groom, looking forward to the marriage supper of the Lamb. The church is commanded to perform two significant practices: baptism and communion. Neither of them can save a soul, but both are symbolic of our dependence on Jesus’ death for the forgiveness of sin. They are not a means of receiving that forgiveness. The purpose of the church is to be Christ’s body, carrying out God’s work in the world today. His work is done through His people; through the power of the Holy Spirit, under God’s direction; and in obedience to Christ, who is the head of the church. We are to glorify the Lord by loving Him, loving those whom He loves, and serving those whom He serves. (1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Colossians 1:18; Matthew 28:19-20; Revelation 19:9; Hebrews 10:24-25; Ephesians 4:11-14; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Matthew 20:28)

Satan

Satan is the being that was created by God. He was created to be one of God’s angels, but rebelled against God by wanting to be equal with Him. He entices people to rebel against God as he did and deceives people from recognizing the truth. He battles against followers of God and accuses them of sins before God. God will one day condemn him to eternal punishment.
(Colossians 1:16; Ezekiel 28:14; Isaiah 14:12-17; Genesis 3:1-15; 2 Corinthians 4:3-4; Job 2:7; Revelation 12:10; Revelation 20:10)

The Future

The Bible describes many future events. Given God’s control and knowledge of all things, we know these prophecies will come true. The followers of Jesus will one day be “caught away” to Heaven. This will include those followers who have already died as well as those who are still living. All who are taken to Heaven will be given new bodies, reuniting body and soul, to live with Jesus forever. The saved will be judged for the lives they lived on earth after trusting Christ as their Savior. This judgment is called the Judgment Seat of Christ and will take place in Heaven. Those left behind on the earth will experience the worst time of suffering and judgment the world has ever known. Judgment will come in the form of natural disasters and unrestrained evil. It is called the time of Tribulation. This time will come to an end after seven years when Jesus returns to establish His kingdom on the earth for one thousand years (the Millennium). Every unsaved person (those who have not received God’s gift of forgiveness) will then be judged by God. This judgment is called the Great White Throne Judgment. Those at this judgment will then be separated from God and punished in Hell for eternity. But there is hope for the unbeliever today: Accept Jesus Christ as your own personal Savior. (1 Corinthians 15:51-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Philippians 3:20-21; Matthew 24:15-22; Revelation, chapters 6-19; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-7; Revelation 19:11-20; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9; Revelation 20:11-15; Matthew 25:46; Revelation 21:1-7)

The Bible Way to Heaven

Admit you are a sinner.

Romans 3:10As it is written: None is righteous, no, not one.
Romans 3:23For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Not one of us is good enough to go to Heaven on our own merit. No matter how much good we do, we still fall short of God’s standard.

Realize the penalty for sin.

Romans 6:23For the wages of sin is death . . .
Hebrews 9:27It is appointed for mankind to die once, and after that comes judgment.

Believe that Jesus Christ paid the penalty for your sin when He died, was buried, and rose again. This is the gospel (the good news) of Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, (4) that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
Romans 6:23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord
Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Trust Christ alone as your Savior.

John 3:16For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life
Romans 10:13For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved
Acts 4:12And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved
1 John 5:13I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life
Eternal life is a gift purchased by the blood shed by Jesus Christ on a wooden cross. This eternal life is offered freely to those who call upon Him by faith. Everyone who truly believes on the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved from eternal punishment. Just as Jesus died one time for all, so trusting Christ as Savior is a one-time event. Won’t you trust Christ as your Savior today before it is eternally too late? If you have questions, we can help. Contact us.
